In 1974 American football arrived in Coolock, Co. Dublin.

A touring team of American footballers were in Ireland for a week to promote the game. The tour was part of a broader UK and European tour to promote the game outside of the US.

The team played a display match at Chanel College in Coolock, Dublin.

This report shows the team in training and a game under way in Coolock. A spokesman for the team explains that they would like the people of Ireland to understand a little bit more about the game of American football than they currently do. He describes the rules of the game and the similarities and differences between American football and rugby. 

American football is a game of sudden bursts of speed.
