The 75th Annual ESB Liffey Swim in Dublin attracted a record number of entries.
400 men, women and children, aged 9 to 63 came from all over the country to plunge into one of Ireland's dirtiest rivers.
Ploughing through a mile and a quarter of driftwood and crisp bags.
The Dublin Fire Brigade was on hand with fire hoses after the swim to wash down the participants.
The men's race was won by Bert O'Brien and the ladies' by Elaine Murphy.
