Housewife of the Year winner Ann Foley from County Wexford shows how to make a seafood starter.

As she enjoys cooking, Ann Foley from New Ross, County Wexford entered herself into the Housewife of the Year competition sponsored by Calor Kosangas.

Alongside Ann Foley, six other women from Counties Cork, Kerry, Kildare, Galway, Sligo and Cavan were selected to take part in the national finals held in the Burlington Hotel Dublin on 27 November 1979.

Amazed to find that I actually got through to the final and then eventually won the national which was a great thrill.

She demonstrates how to make a seafood cocktail. Her recipe uses cod instead of prawns. She prepares a Marie Rose sauce and lines some glasses with a lettuce leaves. She then adds the cod and sauce to the glasses, garnishing the seafood cocktail with lemon twists.

I think everybody likes seafood, I really do.
