A switch in direction flow for traffic and the introduction of one way streets aims to keep Dublin moving.
The plan aims to speed up city traffic and eliminate bottlenecks in the city centre. The changes include the formation of a clockwise roundabout around D'Olier Street, College Street and Westmoreland Street. Talbot Street and Abbey Street join Henry Street and Mary Street as east to west one way streets. The south keys become one way from west to east. Capel Street becomes one way from south to north.
The new measures were announced by Minister for Justice Charles Haughey last week who appealed to the public to cooperate with the Gardaí to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the new system.
