Traditional farming methods in Brittany, France.

An extract from the RTÉ series 'Into Europe' profiling agriculture on small farms in Brittany, Northern France. Reporter Justin Keating describes the countryside of Brittany that sounds like it could be somewhere in Ireland. Keating discusses the similarities between Ireland and Brittany in terms of climate, agriculture, religion and emigration. 50% of the population is involved in farming and two thirds of the farms are less than 25 acres in size. There has been a start in amalgamating land and clearing trees and ditches to create larger more efficient fields. One local farmer describes his situation before and after the improvements where he went from having eighty one parcels of land to just three.
