Following the closure of the Irish Press journalists create a newspaper and distribute it on the streets of Dublin.

The XPress is a freesheet that has been produced by journalists from the now closed Irish Press.

Now they're trying to gag the Xpress.

One of Ireland's most popular newspapers, The Irish Press, ceased publication on 25 May 1995 after 64 years in print.

Following the closure, journalists at the newspaper continued to publish newspapers under the names the Sunday XPress, the Evening XPress and the Irish XPress. Following legal action from the Irish Press management, they were forced to rename the paper due to trademark infringements. The paper was renamed as the XPress.

Journalists held a protest outside Leinster House to highlight their situation with The Irish Press facing liquidation with the loss of 600 jobs.
