A random act of kindness by Moore Street trader Annie Darcy is officially rewarded.

Annie Darcy is the winner of the February Millennium Spirit of Dublin award which recognises,

Outstanding in co-operation and dealing with people.

A Moore Street market trader for the past fifty four years, she was nominated for the award by a regular customer. Donal Casey was not charged for his vegetables on a day that he left his wallet at home. Annie Darcy also offered him a loan of money if he needed it.

In addition to the crystal award, Annie Darcy received a bouquet of flowers from Fergal Quinn, managing director of Superquinn and chairman of An Post, who presented it to her at her stall on Moore Street. She donated the bouquet to the chapel in the nearby Ilac Centre, as,

The God above is looking after me, and I have to look after him.

Originally from Dominick Street, Annie Darcy now lives in Cabra and dopes not drink or smoke. She has the highest regard for Fergal Quinn,

He's a proper gentleman.
