Glenties in Donegal marks win in the Tidy Towns competition with an elaborate ceremony.
Glenties in County Donegal wins the overall Tidy Towns award for the fourth time since 1958. A ceremony takes place for the unveiling of the Tidy Towns plaque by guest of honour the Minister for Transport and Power Erskine Childers.
The Minister reviews a guard of honour of An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil (FCA). The band of the Saint Connell's Girls School lead a procession which includes a representation of Saint Columba and his monks sailing for Iona.
