Irish band Engine Alley perform 'Your Head' on 'The Late Late Show'.

With so many bands operating in Dublin at any one time, it is difficult to make an impression. Engine Alley however, are making their mark,

They are the first band to be signed by Paul McGuinness since U2.

Formed in Kilkenny in 1989, Engine Alley original members are Canice Kenealy on vocals and guitar, Brian Kenealy on guitar and Eamonn Byrne on bass. On moving to Dublin the line-up expanded to include drummer, Emmaline Fallon-Duffy and violin player Kenneth Rice.

‘The Late Late Show’ presenter Gay Byrne explains the band’s name comes from,

A good auld street in the middle of The Liberties of Dublin.

Engine Alley launch into a performance of ‘Your Head’ causing Gay Byrne to exclaim,

Merciful hour!

‘Your Head’ features on Engine Alley’s debut EP ‘Flowerbox’ released in August 1991 on Mother Records.

This episode of ‘The Late Late Show’ was broadcast on 8 November 1991. The presenter is Gay Byrne.
