The latest design and construction by an Irish model maker depicts a new university campus in Iraq.

Work on a three dimensional representation for a new university campus in Baghdad has been underway at Gerard Crowley's model making premises in Bray County Wicklow.

Gerard Crowley Model Makers Limited with support from the Irish Export Board CTT (Córas Tráchtála) have been promoting their business in Germany, and this has helped establish their presence on the international market.

There was significant interest in the project from model makers in German and English but the Bray based company won the business, and is in the final stages of putting the model together.

The large university campus which will cover an area measuring approximately four by one and a half kilometres. It will have sports facilities, a football stadium, an Olympic sized swimming pool, gymnasium, hotels, shops, student and staff accommodation and mosques.

The model project has a price of £50,000, but it is only a very small part of the budget for the new third level campus in a country of Iraq's size,

The cost of the model is such a minute proportion of the cost of the overall project.
