Promising young gymnast Barry McDonald demonstrates some of the exercises from his routine.

Fourteen-year-old Barry McDonald from the South Circular Road Dublin took up gymnastics when he was eight and has excelled at the sport.  

Winner of the 1985 British National Schoolboys Championship, he also collected an award last month as one at the Irish Nationwide-Sunday Independent Young Sports Stars Awards. 

Tipped as one who will go far in the sporting world, Barry McDonald  demonstrates his artistic gymnastic skills on the pommel horse, parallel bars, horizontal bar and rings under the watchful eye of his coach Michael Scott.
