Fourteen-year-old Barry McDonald from the South Circular Road Dublin took up gymnastics when he was eight and has excelled at the sport.
Winner of the 1985 British National Schoolboys Championship, he also collected an award last month as one at the Irish Nationwide-Sunday Independent Young Sports Stars Awards.
