Motorists in Dublin city centre are being offered a new way to pay for on street parking.
Dublin City Council is giving motorists the option of paying by telephone. The new payment system will cover three thousand on street spaces in the city.
Under the new system, a parking tag can be bought in shops and topped up. Drivers can also order a tag online and register an account. When the driver is parking, they can call in where they are and how long they will be and the information is registered on the tag. The system will then notify you by text message when your time is up.
When you're parking, you call in where you are and how long you'll be there.
Parking Enforcement Officer with Dublin City Council Brian Riddick outlines the costs involved in availing of the service.
A pay as you go parking tag has a one off cost of €3.99. There are no further costs apart from the cost of parking. If you choose the online registration system, this involves a monthly charge of €0.50. There is a special offer for early registration which comes with €5 parking credit.
