Parking attendants have been a feature of city life for years but many Dubliners are wary of the lock hard men.
Members of the public give their views on parking attendants around Dublin city.
One woman comments that,
Anybody can stand out and wear a cap and have a newspaper in their hand and demand money.
Although asked for their side of the story many of the parking attendants are reluctant to speak in front of the cameras.
While it is against the law for them to ask for money, the general agreement is that motorists will pay them to look after their cars while parked.
Among those interviewed is Alice Glenn of Dublin City Council who describes the parking attendants as,
A necessary evil.
