Parnell Bridge over the River Lee in Cork is taken down to be replaced by a new structure.

This footage shows a view of a partially demolished bridge with parts of the structure being removed by crane. The old swivel bridge will be replaced by a new three lane structure.

The Parnell Bridge was closed in January 1968 over safety concerns that the structure could not hold the ever-increasing traffic through Cork city.

The new Parnell Bridge was officially opened on 24 May 1971 by Alderman Peter Barry TD Lord Mayor of Cork.
