Broadcaster and naturalist David Attenborough talks about his television series 'Life on Earth'.

David Attenborough talks about fear of the irrational and says familiarity is a good way of getting over fears of mice and spiders. He goes on to talk about his fondness for sloths and the mating patterns of animals with such reduced senses.

Closing the interview Gay Byrne asks David Attenborough about his views on life off earth.

There is no life in the solar system that has been identified except very possibly on an extremely low level. One thing I'm quite certain that the only place that I am liable to get to within 30 or 40 years of travel... is not nearly as interesting as this very precious earth of ours.

This episode of The Late Late Show was broadcast on 25 October 1980. The presenter is Gay Byrne.
