U2 take their Joshua Tree Tour to Cork.

U2 arrive at Cork Airport on board their private jet with 'The Out Of Our Tree Tour' printed on the side. After signing autographs at Cork Airport, it's on to Paírc Uí Chaoimh.

U2 and their thousands of fans have good reason to celebrate in Cork this weekend. The band's single 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for' has just gone to number one in the United States.

Over 50,000 fans are expected at the concert in Paírc Uí Chaoimh, bringing millions of pounds into Cork City with every hotel, guesthouse, and campsite booked out.

The GAA has taken measures to protect the pitch in Paírc Uí Chaoimh with an aluminium mesh on the ground near the giant stage. Support acts included UB40, The Dubliners and The Subterraneans.

It's reckoned the fans will be treated to a quarter of a million watts from a hundred giant speakers.
