A new look Evening Press newspaper is launched.
The paper still has the broadsheet style but with a newly designed masthead. The biggest change is the two section format. The first section contains expanded news, business and sports coverage, while the second section combines features, Dubliner's Diary, television and radio guide, and classified ads. While changes have been made to the appearance of the paper, the price remains the same.
A spokesman for the paper explains why the changes were made with the objective of giving readers what they want. Young journalist Donagh Diamond also comments
It means that the stories we do will be better laid out... if it doesn't look well people aren't going to read it
