26 trawlers block Dublin Bay for 36 hours over fishing subsidies and fishing zones.
Derek Davis reports from Dublin Bay, where 26 trawlers blocked the harbour in a 36-hour protest. Their action was prompted by the failure of talks with the government the previous week and was typical of actions all around the country. The Irish Fishermen's Organisation wanted a trawler subsidy and a 50-mile fishing limit to prevent foreign boats taking Irish fish.
Several vessels managed to break through the blockade. The report includes footage of the damage done to 'Golden Sunrise' when the freighter Seaspeed went through the blockade.
