Plans to make Dublin Bay a special amenity area.
At a meeting in City Hall, commissioners agreed that a special amenity order for Dublin Bay should be put in place immediately. This will protect the specified area from industrial development and maintain it as a place for public recreation.
A public enquiry must be held however by the Minister for Local Government James Tully before this designation becomes official. The future of Dublin Bay has been the subject of controversy and debate over the past number of years.
