Dockers spot dolphins swimming in the Alexandra Basin at Dublin Port.

Dublin dockers catch sight of three dolphins swimming in the Alexandra Basin area west of the Irish Ferries terminal in Dublin Port. While dolphin watching has become a popular tourist pursuit in areas around the country, this is the first reported sighting in the heart of the Dublin Docklands.

Thomas Beggs, who spotted the school of dolphins, has not seen anything like it in his 40 years as a docker,

I've seen fish and one or two bodies, but maybe it’s the weather.

While the dolphins may be evidence of climate change, he thinks it could be a former docker, returning as a guide,

For all the wrong things that was done on us.

A spokesperson for Dublin Port says the dolphins may have swum into the Liffey estuary behind an African-registered ship.
