What do the people of Carlow think about television quiz shows?

With programmes like 'Who Wants To Be  A Millionaire?' dominating the television schedules, actor and comedian Patrick McDonnell travels to Carlow to find out what people there think of quiz shows. 

Patrick McDonnell asks a number of unsuspecting locals some quick fire questions from the quiz show ‘Quicksilver’. This show, hosted by Bunny Carr, was broadcast on RTÉ television from 1965 to 1981. 

One man fails to answer any of the geography themed questions and another man is unable to identify the sign of the zodiac for September,

I wasn’t born that month.

When asked for her opinion on ‘Quicksilver’, an elderly woman is reluctant to comment,

I don’t like giving my opinion about Bunny Carr or any public character to the media.

'Don't Feed the Gondolas' was a celebrity comedy quiz show hosted by Seán Moncrieff for the first three series and Brendan O'Connor for the fourth and final series. Contestants examined some of the more bizarre manifestations of the Irish and international media. The programme featured a number of Irish comedians, including Dara Ó Briain, Des Bishop, Eddie Bannon, Kevin McAleer and Patrick McDonnell. The first episode was broadcast on 1 December 1997. 'Don't Feed the Gondolas' ended on 26 March 2001.
