£250,000 in forged five pound notes seized in Garda raid.
During the Garda operation the forged bank notes and a printing press on were discovered.
Detective Inspector Frank Hanlon, Head of the Fraud Squad, is hopeful that none of the notes have gone into public circulation. It seems that Garda raid intercepted the printing prior to distribution as there were no loose notes found and no guillotine.
No single fivers. They're all in sheets.
Gardaí believe that the forged notes may have been the work of a criminal gang with associations with the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).
