Spirit of the Green brings an afternoon of entertainment and education to St Stephen's Green in Dublin.

The event was organised by the Irish environmental protection organisation Earthwatch who gathered other organisations and experts together to educate people about issues affecting the environment.

Mary O'Donnell of Earthwatch says that environmental awareness is their contribution to the Dublin Millennium celebrations.

Unfortunately, Ireland is the bottom of the league in the European Community for environmental awareness and we're trying to do something about this.

Solving environmental problems rather than moaning about them was the message from the different organisations including Concern, City Farms and Greenpeace all focusing on their own unique environmental agenda.

Cork CND are campaigning to keep nuclear capable ships and planes from our seas and skies through a petition for an Irish Nuclear Free Zone Act.

The Cushlawn Community Wildlife Park Project hopes to attract wildlife back into the area.

The Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association hope to educate people about the production of food without the use of chemicals.
