A new housing scheme Mount Anthony in Rathmines, Dublin is providing homes for the elderly.
'Broadsheet' visits the Mount Anthony flats a complex established to house elderly women.
In 1959 the Iveagh Trust acquired a 1.25 acre site on Ardee Road in Rathmines and plans were made to construct flats for elderly women on the site. The Mount Anthony complex was officially opened on 14 November 1962 by Minister for Local Government, Neil Blaney.
Mount Anthony contains single and double flats complete with kitchens and bathrooms, as well as a common room and guest rooms. The complex was designed by Norman E Jones.
