Actor David Kelly on 'The Late Late Show' where he talks about his role as the Irish builder O'Reilly in 'Fawlty Towers'.

David Kelly has had a long and successful career on stage and screen. For many, one of his best remembered parts was as the feckless, Irish builder O'Reilly in comedy series 'Fawlty Towers'.

An episode featuring O'Reilly was recorded in front of a live studio audience. While John Cleese as Basil Fawlty and the rest of the cast found the scenes hysterically funny, it was not to everyone's taste.

We thought the show was hilarious. We fell around when we were rehearsing. We thought it was marvellous.

The studio audience was filled with two coach loads of Icelandic tourists, who just didn't seem to get the gags.

The audience sat there and seemed to hate every minute.

According to David Kelly, this episode of 'Fawlty Towers' is titled 'The Builders' and is one of John Cleese's favourite episodes.

This episode of 'The Late Late Show' was broadcast on 23 September 1988. The presenter is Gay Byrne.
