'Arts Express' reports from the 1991 Dublin Film Festival.
Mike Murphy chats to Paddy Woodworth, The Irish Times, about what he predicts will be the best Dublin Film Festival to date.
It's the foreign films that really make the Film Festival an event.
Paddy Woodworth says that the festival this year includes the work of young and experimental Irish filmmakers. A series of seminars with experts such as Jim Sheridan, Frank McGuinness and Hugh Leonard is also in the programme offering a variety of focuses for those attending the festival.
One of the highlights of the festival is a Fritz Lang retrospective, which will include a screening of 'Metropolis' at the National Concert Hall with a live musical accompaniment. Another anticipated screening is the Chinese film 'Ju Dou' directed by Zhang Yimou and Yang Fengliang.
This episode of 'Arts Express' was broadcast on 26 February 1991.
