Five young Meath artists were prizewinners in the 'Meath Chronicle' Boreado Christmas Art Competition.

The winners were presented with their prizes at the Meath Chronicle offices. They also had the opportunity to star in a report for young people's programme 'Anything Goes' about the newspaper.

In this report, we meet the prizewinners and get a look behind the scenes at the workings of the Meath newspaper.

The young prizewinners are Noeleen Forde (16) from Rathcormac; her sister Theresa Forde (14); Liam Fox (12) from Navan; Tom O'Reilly (11) from Naul; and his brother John O'Reilly (6).

The prizewinners are shown the stages in the life of a newspaper article from the moment it is written to the finished product in print. They also get to meet the various staff at the paper including the editor, compositor, cameraman, paste-up artist and press operator. Each of the children is presented with a selection of paints from the Boreado range.

This episode of 'Anything Goes' was broadcast on 14 February 1981.

‘Anything Goes’ was a young people’s programme on RTÉ Television. The programme was first broadcast on 4 October 1980 and continued for 6 years.
