An Taisce hold demonstration against the demolition of Georgian buildings on Hume Street.

Approximately 1,000 people participate in a protest organised by An Taisce at St Stephen's Green. The protest meeting chaired by Maurice O’Connell is a show of disapproval for the decision by Minister for Local Government Kevin Boland to allow the demolition and redevelopment of Hume Street in Dublin. Hume Street has been described as the last remaining example of a small Georgian Street.

Some of those protesting carry placards urging people to,

Save Dublin.

On a platform in front of the Wolfe Tone sculpture by Edward Delaney, writer Ulick O’Connor addresses the crowd. Others who addressed the protest are John Bernard Malone of An Taisce, Professor Kevin Knowlan of the Dublin Civics Group and Irish Georgian Society, and architect and campaigner Uinseann MacEoin. Dr Noel Browne is listed as one of the speakers but does not appear.
