Honor Heffernan performs on 'The Late Late Show' and talks about alcoholism and recovery.
Singer Honor Heffernan performs 'Down Here On The Ground' from her new album 'Chasing The Moon' accompanied by the Jim Doherty trio.
All the work that has gone into the creation and marketing of her new album would have been unthinkable some years back when she was struggling with alcohol.
Honor Heffernan started drinking at the age of sixteen, the same time she started singing.
I drank because I couldn't cope with things…I was really frightened of just being part of the world.
Her singing career suffered as a result, and over time she began to see the toll that alcohol was taking on her life. Encouraged by her mother to pray, she was eventually able to hand her drinking over to God, and received the help she needed,
The very day that I stopped trying to run my life…my life changed.
As well as giving her hope, being sober has improved all aspects of her life,
Sobriety has brought not only hope and peace to her personally, but has benefited every aspect of her life,
It's wonderful, I couldn't go back to the way I was.
