A community arts group with a difference, the Belfast Community Circus teaches circus tricks to young people.
The Belfast Community Circus was established to teach circus arts and performance skills. It has been set up by Donal McKendry and Mike Moloney from the Northern Ireland Community Drama Programme.
In a relatively short period membership has grown to approximately eighty part time members who among other things learn juggling, clowning, stilt walking, unicycling and tightrope walking.
The people who come here the group are from a variety of backgrounds, says Donal,
Everything from fire-eating quantity surveyors to teachers, musicians, clowns who can't find work.
Linda heard about the group through a drama course she was attending, and would encourage anyone to try their hand at circus skills. She enjoys learning a different type of skillset, even though it can be challenging at times,
You've got to work really hard at it.
Circus novice Noeleen rises above the other performers on stilts, while Noel learns the slightly more down to earth skill of juggling.
