Civil unrest in Yugoslavia is not a deterrent for Irish people taking a holiday on the Dalmatian Coast or making a pilgrimage to Medjugorje.

Despite a Department of Foreign Affairs recommendation that all travel to Yugoslavia be deferred if possible, civil unrest in the country is not deterring Irish tourists from travelling to places such as Dubrovnik on the Dalmatian Coast or to the shrine of Medjugorje.

Irish holidaymakers arriving at Dublin Airport on a Yugotours charter seem relaxed and in good humour following their two week stay in Yugoslavia. Based on their experience, they see no reason why travel to Yugoslavia should be postponed. Kay Barry travelled from Medjugorje to Dubrovnik and saw no signs of trouble,

No army on the streets at all.

Gary Keogh completely disagrees with the Department of Foreign Affairs recommendation,

I would go back tomorrow, give me a ticket and I'd be gone.

For anyone questioning whether they should travel to Yugoslavia or to Medjugorje specifically, Fr Seán Noonan advises,

Have no hesitation, none whatsoever.
