Trinity College Dublin is the venue for an athletics meeting promoted by the Crusaders club and featuring the American national team.
A huge crowd in College Park TCD enjoyed an evening of track and field events. The eagerly awaited 880 yards race was won by Ireland's Ronnie Delany with Laing Sanley from the USA in second place. Ronnie Delany is congratulated by his father.
The footage here is taken from film shot by Norman Hodgson. Norman Hodgson was an avid amateur filmmaker who recorded many sporting and social highlights of Irish life (much of it in colour) in the late 1940s and 1950s.
