Fianna Fáil Teachta Dála (TD) Charles Haughey is dedicated to his work in the Dublin North-East constituency. This commitment however, comes at a cost to his family, as he spends limited time at home in Abbeville, Kinsealy, County Dublin.
Perhaps if I spent a great deal more they mightn't like that either.
His children are somewhat uncomfortable with the attention their father brings to them, and would prefer not to be recognisable.
Charles Haughey came into politics through friends he made at school, Harry Boland and George Colley. He is married to Maureen Lemass, the daughter of former Taoiseach and leader of Fianna Fáil
Seán Lemass.
More than anybody else, he has influenced me on what I’ve done and tried to do.
Charles Haughey wants to see the continuing development of Ireland as a modern nation but retaining its unique personality and individuality. He is confident Ireland can avail of the prosperity available in the 20th century.
