Mayo man and Taoiseach Charles Haughey returns to the place of his birth Castlebar where a plaque is unveiled on his family home.

An Taoiseach Charles Haughey attends the unveiling of a plaque in his honour at his birthplace in Castlebar, County Mayo. The plaque was unveiled by Monsignor James Horan, Parish Priest of Knock. 

Charles Haughey and his wife were greeted by crowds as they walked through Castlebar accompanied by a pipe band. 

In his address to the crowd, Charles Haughey stressed the need for an urgent solution to the problems in Northern Ireland.
