A new initiative to promote art in Dublin has paintings hanging on the railings around St Stephen's Green.
Organised by People's Art Dublin, the exhibition was officially opened by the new Lord Mayor of Dublin Mr Michael O'Halloran in his first public duty as mayor. People's Art Dublin is a voluntary body set up by Dublin Corporation and composed of representatives from most art groups in the city.
Pedestrians around the Green were amazed when paintings began appearing on the railings this morning.
The theme of the initiative is to give art back to the people by making the exhibition open to all.
The exhibition was curated by Dublin artist Robert Ballagh who praises the efforts of the artists. He hopes that the citizens of Dublin and tourists respond well to the exhibition and that it can becomes an annual event.
