The people of Cork share their memories of that first kiss.

Some elderly women in Cork City find the subject of their first kiss extremely amusing, with one of them revealing,

Sure I've seven children after.

An older man fondly recalls his first kiss with a girl who attended a convent school in Thurles, County Tipperary. They would meet sporadically over a two year period and each time they kissed.

We were delighted with one another as a matter of fact.

Another man adds,

In those times you’d take a long time, they don't take very long now.

Of the younger men interviewed one reveals his first kiss came about as a result of playing ‘spin the bottle’ when he was about 13 years old.

Another man was 12 years old and he was seeing a girl called Betty Rook. They arranged to meet and that was the first time he kissed a girl.

I remember it went on that night for about two hours.

The only difficulty he experienced kissing Betty was with her height. She was about three inches bigger than him, so he had to stand on a brick to reach her.
