What is the vision for the city of Dublin? Stylised, futuristic and prosperous or large, controversial and grey?

A draft development plan has been published outlining a vision for Dublin.

This is the city of the planners. Stylized, idealistic, futuristic, and prosperous.

However, the reality of Dublin development is quite different with large, controversial, grey buildings, traffic jams, and pollution. The 1980 Development Plan proposed fewer roads and more living space. The 1987 Dublin City Development Plan was a radical departure with the environment as the key. 

Today, environment is the key.

Planning Officer with Dublin Corporation Gay McCarron talks to RTÉ News about how the development plan which sets out the aspirations of the Council. However, implementing these plans is another story especially when it comes to cost.
