Can Cork man Bill Daly retain his title as World Road Bowling Champion?

The World Road Bowling Championships take place in Whitechurch, County Cork.

Five countries are participating in the Paddy Whiskey Road Bowling Championship. The sport has a similar scoring system to golf. Jerry Desmond, Treasurer of Bol Chumann na hÉireann (Irish Road Bowling Association), talks to RTÉ News about how the popularity of the game has grown.

The competition was officially opened by world champion bowler Bill Daly. The 29-year-old Garda Sergeant from Glanmire in County Cork, claims to have been playing the sport since he was out of nappies and hopes to retain his title in this year's competition. Commenting on the skills required for the sport, Bill recommends starting to play at as young an age as possible if you want to be successful.
