The Divine Comedy's 'Victory for the Comic Muse' has been named the 2006 Irish album of the year.
The band was presented with the Choice Music Prize at the award ceremony at Vicar Street in Dublin. This was the second year of the event.
10 acts in all were nominated for the prize which honours the best Irish album of 2006.
Organisers say that the competition is not based on airplay or sales, but rather on the quality of the music.
The Divine Comedy beat off strong competition from nine other acts to take the prize.
