The wait is over for 59,000 Leaving Certificate students as the results are out and for those going on to third level education there will be no fees.

Students at Crescent College Comprehensive SJ in Dooradoyle, Limerick and Rockford Manor Presentation Secondary School, Blackrock share their results with RTÉ News.

The Minister for Education, Niamh Breathnach, said the prospects for school leavers are better than ever before as three quarters of school leavers are set to go onto third level or a post Leaving Certificate course. It is momentous that for the first time ever third level education will be free. 

A helpline organised by the National Parents Council will guide students through rechecks, points queries, and repeats. 

Careeer guidance counsellor Kevin Lewis highlights the result trends in specific subjects.
