New technology sees Leaving Certificate results processed in record time.
It is the first year of a new computerised examination system enabling the Department of Education results centre in Athlone to process the Leaving Certificate results faster than in any previous year.
Over 60,000 students sat the exam and 55,200 will receive their results from their schools, 4,900 external students directly to their homes.
Schools in the Athlone area received their results a day before schools in the rest of the country. Principal Sister Christopher Callan from Our Lady’s Bower in Athlone expressed delight with the results noting,
We had one girl who got straight six As, so we are very happy with her.
