Ragús in its first manifestation hit the stage in July 1998 with the intention of bringing together the best in Irish music, song and dance.
Ragús the show was born on 4 July 1998 when 4 musicians, 1 singer and 9 dancers played to an audience of 200 at the community hall at Cill Ronain on the island of Inis Mór, where they played exclusively for 3 years. In 2001 a second company was formed to bring the show to Dublin.
During the summer of 2001 the Aran Company played 3 shows a day, 7 days a week, while the newly formed Dublin group played a 9 week residency at Vicar Street. The show then moved to the Olympia Theatre for a 9 week run. Despite the popularity of the Dublin show, Aran is the real home to Ragús.
