Actor who plays JR Ewing in 'Dallas' in Dublin to support arthritis fundraising event.
At the request of Jacqueline O'Brien, wife of horse-trainer Vincent O'Brien, Hagman had agreed to draw the winning ticket in a raffle for a two-year old filly. It was hoped that the Phoenix Park event would raise £350,000 for joint operations at Cappagh Hospital in Dublin. Hagman was the star turn of a gathering that included celebrities and politicians. Caroline Erskine asks him about the success of soap opera 'Dallas' in this RTÉ News report.
Greed, avarice, luck, that's what life is made of..... One reason I think for the success is it came during a recession and people couldn't afford to go out on Friday night. So I saved billions of dollars, people going out and spending their money on silly things like restaurants and movies.
