The Kirov Ballet, whose history can be traced back to the origins of the Russian Ballet 250 years ago, arrive in Dublin.

On 21 May 1990 the world famous Kirov Ballet arrived in Dublin for a two week stretch of performances at The Point Depot. 

The arrival of the company marks the opening of the Kirov Ballet summer tour. After Dublin they go on to London for five weeks and a further week in Birmingham. 

The company is to perform two separate programmes, Le Corsaire and Swan Lake. The Kirov last visited Dublin during the millennium in 1988. 

Promoter Vicki Charlton spoke to reporter Kevin McDonald about the Le Corsaire production.
