Thousands sign petition to preserve the Viking site at Wood Quay in Dublin.
Santa Claus delivered a special Christmas box at the office of the Minister for Finance, Mr. George Colley. The box contained a petition calling for the preservation of the Viking site at Wood Quay in Dublin.
Head of the history department of High School, Sandymount, Ian Broad was dressed as Santa Claus and was accompanied by members of the Friends of Medieval Dublin and its chairman Professor F.X. Martin, who delivered 20 boxes containing 70,000 signatures. A further 140,000 signatures had also been collected but had yet to be checked before being delivered to the Minister's office.
