Tom McCaughren reports on the arrival of 300 soldiers of the First Battalion, Queen's Regiment, in Derry.

The report shows 300 troops, from the First Battalion Queen's Regiment, disembarking a ship on their arrival. The purpose of their mission is to take control of security at the Bogside,Derry, and other strategic points in the city.

The troops arrived from Linfield in Surrey to the Royal Naval maintenance base. They brought all their own equipment including jeeps, lorries and a bus. An advance party under had arrived earlier that the same day. Another 125 troops are due to arrive in Belfast tomorrow, which will bring the total number of troops in the city from the First Battalion to 500.
