Industrial action by CIÉ mechanics will bring the Dublin city bus service to a halt.

A strike staged by the Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) mechanics will leave Dublin city without bus services on 4 June 1971. Provincial services will be badly hit and it is not clear whether services originating outside Dublin will be able to make the return journey. Provincial services from Dublin will not operate. Much of the CIÉ tours business will not be conducted. Some postal services between Dublin and Cork will also be affected.

This footage features Donnybrook Bus Garage in the south Dublin suburb of Donnybrook. Buses drive around the Morrisson Obelisk at the junction of Anglesea Road and Ailesbury Road. This monument commemorates Arthur Morrison, Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1835.
