A Mayo Leaving Certificate student has never missed a day of school.
Thousands of students are getting ready for Junior and Leaving Certificate examinations. In County Mayo, one 17 year old is finishing school, having never missed a day since he started Junior Infants in September 2002
From Killawalla, Shane Gavin a Leaving Certificate student at Davitt College in Castlebar, knew in primary school that he had a perfect attendance record.
From that point on I always tried to discipline myself that I would achieve this.
His dedication has not gone unnoticed by his classmates. Ben Studnicka recalls,

Anna Lawlor is nostalgic about the past six years of secondary school but,
We feel ready to move on now and looking forward to college now and the future.
Davitt College principal Bernie Gavin understands that it is an emotional time for students. She and her staff will be available to support students throughout the exam period.
Shane Gavin is planning to pursue a career in the Defence Forces.
