The Footsbarn Theatre group from Cornwall bring shows to the Galway Arts Festival.
Footsbarn Theatre has built a reputation by bringing performances to audiences wherever they are. In Galway for the arts festival, the company entertains on Eyre Square.
Festival organisers say more than a hundred events are planned this year. Footsbarn alone will stage three productions over ten nights, including one world premiere. Elsewhere across the city, audiences can enjoy a diverse programme of exhibitions, poetry readings and classical music concerts.
While Galway continues to play a vital role in promoting the arts, the city faces an ongoing challenge: the lack of dedicated performance spaces. Now in its fourth year, the festival still operates without a permanent venue. As a result, much of its energy and atmosphere spills out onto the streets. Organisers hope the success of the festival will strengthen the case for a permanent arts centre in Galway.
