The Galway Arts Festival starts today the 15th of July and runs for two weeks. Now in its 36th year, the festival includes performances from Imelda May, Grizzly Bear and The Strypes, Glen Hansard with Damien Dempsey, and Josh Ritter with Mick Flannery. The festival also presents a variety of theatre, visual arts, dance, comdedy, talks, and discussions.

RTÉ Archives takes a look back to the Galway Arts Festival in 1991 when more than 20,00 visitors thronged the city streets to watch the annual arts festival's summertime pageant.
